Sherry Karver
This series is called "Movement Interrupted". I capture these images from my TV screen when the picture 'breaks up' due to wind or bad weather.
The only alterations I make are slight cropping.
I see these as 'found images', that are literally handed to me. I find beauty in the fragmentation, and semi-abstraction that occurs, creating a sometimes surreal image when they become pixelated. The images are in three categories - figurative, landscape, and architectural.
It is a combination of luck, magic, and patience to catch the image at
the exact right moment. I want it to be recognizable, yet abstract at the
same time, playing with light, shapes, textures, contrast and form. I
want to give the viewer something they can relate to, but also expand
on the meaning of what is happening in the scene.
