CHARLES DANCIK BIOGRAPHY

Multimedia Artist Charles Dancik, was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Charles studied art, oil painting, drawing, photography and music at a very young age. In elementary school, he was inspired by history, geography, music, drawing, theatre, stage, and making props. In many ways he is self-taught and always searching for new ways to create a vision through any form of art. He expanded his perspective drawing skills and finished high school with a trade certification as a general draftsman in Montreal, studying technical drawing, architecture, electricity, mechanics, and construction materials. He continued his education further and graduated from Dawson College heading a new career in commercial art, illustration and design.

Charles was successful in various positions as a graphic designer, art department manager, advertising manager, retail packaging designer but now pursues his passion for arts, nature, music, performing arts, painting, writing, sculpting, wood working and anything that relates to life and creativity. Most of his hand made works are from visual real life experiences such as memories, dreams, and inspirations. Without any physical reference or model in front of him, he transforms thoughts from the subconscious mind. He believes "Everything exists in front of our eyes, but it takes art to capture, motivate, and see the true message. Everything is related to creation".

Charles says, "There is an art to everything".

OTHER WORKS

On the flip side, Charles flipped a few years ago from artist to artistic model, character role player, actor/performer for various artistic projects around the city. In Montreal, he acts for independent film makers, models poses nude for life drawing sessions, artistic photographers, photo clubs, body painters and artists alike.

For Charles, being outside the comfort zone is an important part of the process in creating art. He wanted to change positions, see from the other side, learn more about posing the human body, and express nude art forms through modelling.

He remembers being in life drawing classes, drawing the anatomy of both the female and male nude, and how they were able to hold a pose for 20 minutes or more. "It's hard work to model for artists and photographers". He says "you have to be in tune with yourself and breathe properly to be in shape". Charles exercises by modelling or playing male or female characters for art creations which helps him to be grounded with the human body.

"Purely we are born naked, then wrapped in cloth for most of our lives. Be born again and let the body breathe. Rebirth is the body free from cloth but in contact with mind, spirit and soul."

TECHNIQUES

Charles uses various materials, techniques, including hand made art, digital photography and computer software to assemble and make the vision of his final image come alive!
